New build home FAQs
There are a few questions that often come up when we discuss new build homes with our clients; we’ve answered a few below:
-
Yes, you will need planning permission for a new build house in the UK. Planning permission is required for building something new, extending or making major changes to an existing building, or changing the use of a building.
To obtain planning permission, you will need to submit a planning application to your local planning authority (LPA) through your local council. The application process involves providing detailed plans and information about the proposed development, and can sometimes need other supporting reports, studies or information. If you proceed with the construction without obtaining the necessary planning permission, you may be served with an enforcement notice, which could require you to undo the changes made.
